Aldeagar App
Aldeagar is a mobile application created to explore the rural territory of Beja through stories, sounds, and immersive experiences. The app lets users discover villages, access local narratives, and interact with augmented reality content, promoting a deeper connection to the region’s cultural heritage.
My role in the project:
In this project, I designed the application’s experience and interface based on an already defined identity. - I structured the navigation and content organization - I defined how audio, video, and AR are presented - I adapted the experience to the real context of use - I worked together with the development team and the client
Overview
Aldeagar is the official app of Beja City Council for exploring 15 villages in the municipality through multimedia content and interactive experiences. The app combines audio guides, soundscapes, video, and augmented reality to turn each location into a point of discovery, allowing users to get to know the area in a more engaging and accessible way.
Challenge
Communicating cultural heritage and local stories in an engaging way can be challenging, especially in rural contexts where information is not always structured or easily accessible. In addition, the experience takes place outdoors and on the move, which implies considering factors such as user attention, lighting conditions, and ease of interaction.
Objectives
The goal was to create a simple and intuitive experience that would allow users to explore the territory through different content formats. It also aimed to structure the information clearly, integrating audio, video, and augmented reality into smooth navigation adapted to the real context of use.
Impact and Learnings
This project reinforced the importance of designing for real-world contexts, where factors such as mobility, attention, and environment directly influence the experience. It also highlighted the challenge of integrating multiple content formats into a clear interface, while maintaining a balance between information and usability.
